What are the planned changes?

It will feature significant improvements that will benefit the people we care for, the loved ones the hospice supports at the most difficult times, and ensure the hospice team has the environment it needs to deliver outstanding hospice care.

The key benefits of the Ward Development Project include enhancing the experience for people under our care and their loved ones through modernised, comfortable surroundings and improved facilities, including new showers and updated bathrooms, hoists, furnishings, TVs, lighting and flooring.

There will be new spaces such as a therapy room and a quiet room for loved ones and energy efficiency upgrades, including the installation of solar panels.

The lounge and entrance will also be redesigned to create a more welcoming and functional space.

Will the construction cause any disruption?

Yes, there will be some changes to be aware of:

Parking:

From 26 August, Individuals in our care will still visit through the front of the building, while all staff/visitor parking will be at the rear. The access road will have stricter parking rules to accommodate large deliveries.

Access: A covered walkway  will be erected from the reception doors to the café corridor, allowing protected movement around the construction areas. The contractor will have managed access across this walkway.

Please call the hospice reception or liaise with your contact at SFH  before you visit to find out more information.
