Dynamic duo Tracey and Christine run Perfect Layout Digital Marketing and pride themselves on being a business that cares.

These web designers are not afraid of stepping out of their comfort zone (quite literally) and on Sunday 14th May, they will be jumping out of a plane and freefalling from from 10,000ft to raise money for local people who need the care of Saint Francis Hospice. What’s more, they’ve even inspired hospice fundraiser Andy Furneaux to overcome his fear of heights and join them on the thrilling skydive!

Here Tracey and Christine share why they have chosen to take the plunge for Saint Francis Hospice.

Last year we did an Interview with Andy and he told us about the amazing work Saint Francis Hospice does for thousands of people, year in, year out.

The hospice is well-known across Havering, beaming its brightly coloured orange and messages of hope, care and love in the community.

Our health can be compromised at any time of life and the caring professionals of this hospice regularly look after people of all ages; whether that’s at some point in their illness or at the end of their life.

Recently, Andy invited us to see where so much wonderful work takes place. We were given a full tour and told how, almost 40 years prior, the birth of this caregiving sanctuary was born.

We were struck by the warmth and homely feel of the environment and from those working for Saint Francis Hospice; their care goes above and beyond. We were also surprised to learn that this hospice offers considerably more than onsite care, with much of the care and support actually being given to people in the community.

As a charity, raising funds to keep the doors of this wonderful hospice open is vital and this year we are ready to take a step forward and help out by supporting their fundraising efforts.

The past three years have felt restricted and so this year we were looking for some adventure, whilst also supporting a good cause. When Andy mentioned the skydive, we jumped at the chance, and challenged him to do it with us. We’re very excited about the prospect of sky diving for Saint Francis and believe that it’s going to be an amazing experience.

How it went

We are proud that our skydive for Saint Francis Hospice was successfully achieved on Sunday 11th June 2023. Christine and I have approached this day with nothing but excitement and relish at the thought of doing something amazing for an incredible charity and we were not disappointed.

Tracey said, "What a rush! For me it was an exhilarating, wind blowing, mind boggling, could barely breath when I first jumped out of the plane, experience. I also managed to turn a slight shade of green after landing as I spun the parachute around a few too many times! And yes, they do allow you to hold and handle the parachute yourself! If this is something on your bucket list - stop thinking about it and book yourself in as soon as you can, you won’t regret it!"

Christine said, “What an amazing experience. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat, as there’s so much to take in, in just a few minutes. I think my stand-out memory is falling from the plane and then turning upside down so that I could see the belly of the plane. I flew like a bird! Thankfully, it was a soft landing, with no broken bones, just huge smiles and exhilaration.”

We’re so very proud of the 91 supporters who have donated a whopping £2,560 to our campaign. We also learned today that this skydiving event has currently raised, for Saint Francis, more than £27,000!
