Volunteer Harry recently won a Jack Petchey Foundation Award for his outstanding contribution to our shops.

When Harry was 13, his beloved uncle died following a battle with cancer.

He says, "A few things had happened that affected my mental health, but losing my uncle is what finally broke me. I just didn't want to socialise or be around anyone. I stopped going out, and I stopped talking. My confidence was shattered."

Harry's GP prescribed anti-depressants, but he knew he had to do something else to build up his self-belief. Volunteering at our electrical store in Romford gave Harry the perfect opportunity to do just that.

Harry cites volunteering as one of the best things he's ever done. He says, "I've made friends, my confidence had grown, and I've learnt life skills."

Retail Area Manager, Alan, said, "Harry has carried out a range of duties and he always had service with smile - he liked doing anything from till work to researching donations. He always went above and beyond and he is a great team player and a well deserved winner of this award."

Harry has been awarded £300 which will be put towards helping us to recruit more volunteers.

Thank you Harry for your wonderful support over the years!
