Our Therapies Team is hosting an Information and Support Open Day in The Pepperell Education Centre on Thursday 18th July from 10.30 am to 3pm.  Here the Therapies Team explains how its services are helping to improve people’s quality of life.

We're inviting the public and professionals to attend our Information and Support Open Day, to find out about the support available from our team as part of our wellbeing services.

This is an opportunity for people to learn about the outstanding care and support services Saint Francis Hospice provides.  It will also highlight how our Therapies Team works with a variety of organisations and services in the community to ensure people we care for, and their families/carers, receive the highest standard of care possible.

Demand for palliative care services is increasing

Physiotherapy

The demand for palliative care services is increasing every year and will continue to increase as individuals are now living longer due to advances in treatment and technology.

Our services to individuals include occupational therapy, physiotherapy and complementary therapy. The Therapies Team provides interventions to individuals on our ward and within the community to help improve function, enable independence, improve mobility, reduce anxiety, stress, pain, and discomfort to the individual - with the aim of improving wellbeing and enhancing people's quality of life.

Important to find out what people would like to achieve

It is important to find out what is important to the individual, what they would like to achieve and to provide them with the care and support they need working collaboratively with the Medical team, various support services, and community groups.

As well as The Therapies Team Internal staff and volunteers from our OrangeLine confidential telephone line service and our Family and Individual Support Service will be in attendance.

External organisations attending

External community organisations and groups that will be attending include: Motor Neurone Disease Association, Dementia UK, Parkinsons UK, London Fire Brigade, Falls Services, Local Areas Co-ordinators Team, Assistive Technology, Mind, Memory Service, Admiral Nurses, Stairlifts, Living and Beyond Team, Havering Carers Hub, Dogs Trust and the Personalised Cancer Care Team.
