Christmas Tree Recycling raises £44,000 for Saint Francis Hospice

Saint Francis Hospice’s Christmas Tree Recycling campaign was a tremendous success, raising over £44,000 for people and families who need its compassionate care and support services. Here Charlotte Winder, the charity’s Fundraising Manager, explains why this is such a heartwarming campaign.
What a fabulous way to kick start 2025 by raising an incredible £44,000 for people who desperately need our care.
While some people are feeling the January blues after all the festivities are over, our wonderful supporters came out in force with their big hearts, generosity and enthusiasm to support our Christmas Tree Recycling campaign in whatever way they could.
It was a huge operation collecting 2,206 real trees across Brentwood and Havering, and it brought out the best in everyone who took part! Over four days more than 90 volunteers gave up their time and energy - braving the freezing temperatures - to pick up trees so they could be chipped and recycled.
Many of our volunteers have been supporting the campaign for many years and some joined us for the first time. Some have had experience of hospice care and others just wanted to do what they could to help people who need our care.
There are so many people to thank, from the volunteers: all the businesses who gave their support, The Sharp Group for sponsoring the campaign and all the people who signed up and donated. Without you all, the campaign would not be possible. And it is thanks to you all, it was a fantastic success. You are all amazing.
Last year we cared for 2,000 people at the most difficult time in their lives and we will be caring for even more people this year thanks to supporters like you!
The campaign may be over for another year but as a charity, every day is a fundraising day as we rely on donations to fund our services.
This year, instead of giving something up, consider giving back to your community! Please visit our website to find out how you can continue to support local people who need hospice care. There are so many ways to get involved from volunteering, signing up to an event or playing our Lottery. Find out more by visiting sfh.org.uk
