My pride at raising over £1,500 in first fundraiser

During the pandemic the Hospice was hit hard when it came to raising money from fundraising events. It got me thinking about what could I do to help them during this difficult time?

So when my local neighbourhood suggested putting on a Christmas Fayre, I thought it would be a great way to raise some money for the Hospice.

On Saturday 5th December, the Cathedral Estate in Upminster put up stalls in gardens outside their houses and invited local residents to come along for a socially distanced shop.

As I live on the estate I decided to have a stall to raise money for Saint Francis Hospice. Some of the Orangeline team came along to help out.

Armed with incredible raffle prizes donated by local businesses alongside stunning homemade crafts from my OrangeLine team mates Jan Smith and Helen Burkett and my very talented mother in law Linda Midmer, I managed to drum up a great deal of interest. Raffle prizes included:

£50 off Da Vinci's Restaurant in Hornchurch
£50 Meat Hamper from Prime Cuts Butchers in Cranham
£30 off voucher from The Jobbers Rest in Upminster
XXL Pizza with Prosecco from the Fat Pizza Co
A free 45 minute Personal Training session with Over the Line Fitness
A full set of Gel nails by Beauty by Lysette

I just want to say a massive thank you to all of the local businesses above for such great support of Saint Francis Hospice.

Due to Covid and social distancing restrictions,  I was not able to advertise the event but I certainly made the most of it.

I advertised and sold raffle tickets on social media in advance of the day and had raised £400 before it even started, sending people photos of their raffle tickets as proof of purchase.

A grand total of over £1500 was raised which I didn't think was too bad for my first attempt!

I have already signed up to hold a stall for the Christmas Fayre 2021!
